Project L.E.A.P.: Leadership Development Program

Leadership Excellence and Advancement Program.

Project L.E.A.P. is Grey & Associates’ customizable leadership development program. Practical behavior change across your team, leaders, managers, and team members at every level. Specifically, it is built on Everything DiSC® on Catalyst™ and The Five Behaviors, reinforced through coaching, and measured with a baseline, post-session reflection, and 90-day impact check-in.

What is Project L.E.A.P.? Project L.E.A.P. (Leadership Excellence and Advancement Program) helps teams, leaders, managers, and the people they work with, communicate, collaborate, and execute. Not for a single training day, but for the Mondays that follow. Each cohort moves through a tested rhythm: assess, train, reflect, sustain, extend.

What you’ll learn

L. E. A. P.: four competencies your team uses on Monday

The L.E.A.P. competency model maps cleanly to the tools we use. Every letter is a practical capability with concrete behaviors your team (leaders, managers, and members at every level) can apply at work.

L

Lead

Lead with self-awareness

Understand your own DiSC style: your motivators, your stress signals, your default communication pattern. Self-leadership is the entry point to everything else.

  • Read your DiSC profile in practical terms
  • Name your stress and recovery patterns
  • Set behavioral commitments tied to a real goal
E

Engage

Engage with adaptability

Reading other styles in the room is the skill. Flex your communication to land with each one. Catalyst™ provides the shared language; practice makes it stick.

  • Identify colleagues’ styles using Catalyst
  • Prep meetings using style-specific cues
  • Adapt your delivery without losing your voice
A

Align

Align with the team

Build the conditions for performance: trust, healthy conflict, and clear commitments. The Five Behaviors lower triangle is where most leadership teams stall.

  • Establish team trust through vulnerability-based behaviors
  • Surface conflict productively rather than burying it
  • Convert discussion into written commitments
P

Perform

Perform with accountability

Hold yourself and the team accountable to the commitments you made, and connect daily behavior to collective results. The upper triangle of Five Behaviors.

  • Run peer accountability the team actually uses
  • Tie individual decisions to team-level results
  • Sustain the operating rhythm after the program ends

What you get

Four outcomes leaders can use on Monday

Together, these outcomes drive practical behavior change: measured through baseline surveys, post-session reflection, and a 90-day impact check-in.

Clearer, more effective communication

Across styles and roles. Leaders gain a shared language and the practical skill to flex it.

Stronger collaboration and trust

Additionally, teams build the conditions for performance through trust, healthy conflict, commitment, accountability, and results.

Higher-quality decision-making and follow-through

As a result, leaders move from talk to commitment, and the team has the structure to execute and review.

Improved conflict navigation and accountability

Furthermore, unhelpful conflict patterns get named and reframed, and shared accountability replaces blame.

What is in the program

Three Integrated Components of the Leadership Development Program

Each engagement combines all three. The depth and timing scale with your cohort size and goals.

Leadership Development Curriculum

Interactive learning designed for immediate application and sustained performance improvement. Practical scenarios and team agreements, not slideware.

Coaching & Reinforcement

Coaching options that support application, accountability, and leadership habit-building. Cohort-based or 1:1, scoped to your team.

How it works

Five steps from baseline to behavior change

The same rhythm runs through every engagement. Format and intensity adjust to cohort size and timeline.

1

Assess

Participants complete a short baseline survey to clarify goals and current leadership challenges. We use this to tailor the curriculum.

2

Train

In these facilitated sessions, participants build practical leadership behaviors they can use immediately. Sessions are built around Everything DiSC® and The Five Behaviors.

3

Reflect

After each session, participants complete a structured reflection that captures key takeaways, confidence shifts, and the support each leader needs to apply what they learned.

4

Sustain

As a result, a structured 90-day impact check-in measures application and progress, identifies barriers, and sets next-step actions.

5

Extend (optional)

Ongoing coaching and cohort support are available for deeper reinforcement and accountability beyond the core program.

How you can engage L.E.A.P.

Two cohort formats

Most leadership development program engagements fit one of two patterns. Therefore, you can pick the one that matches your stage and team.

Format 1

Open-Enrollment Cohort

Scheduled, public cohorts that bring leaders from multiple organizations together. Cross-organizational peer learning is the point: your leaders meet peers facing similar challenges in different contexts.

Format
Virtual cohort (optional onsite kickoff)
Cadence
Scheduled dates, 2 to 3 sessions per month
Cohort size
Typically 8 to 20 leaders, mixed orgs
Best fit
Individuals, small teams, growing leaders
  • Lighter commitment, public schedule
  • Cross-industry peer learning
  • Same curriculum, faster start

Right for you if

You want to develop a single leader or small group of 2 to 6 without scheduling a private engagement.

Format 2

Custom In-House Cohort

Your team only. Curriculum tailored to your organization’s context: your strategic priorities, your team dynamics, your operating rhythm. Scheduled to your calendar.

Format
Virtual or onsite (or hybrid)
Cadence
Designed to your calendar; 8 to 16 weeks core
Cohort size
Up to 25 leaders from your organization
Best fit
Leadership pipeline at scale, post-merger, multi-team alignment
  • Tailored to your team’s real challenges
  • Team agreements built on your context
  • Optional integration with strategic planning

Right for you if

You’re developing a leadership pipeline, integrating after a merger or reorg, or aligning multiple teams to a new strategic direction.

Who this is for

Right-fit cohorts

This leadership development program works best for teams (at any level) ready to invest in practical behavior change, not a one-time training event. However, the format flexes to fit your context.

Whole teams building a shared language

Functional teams, departments, or program staff who want one common framework for communication, conflict, and accountability, from front-line to leadership.

Manager and supervisor cohorts

Mid-level leaders learning together. The cohort itself becomes part of the reinforcement.

Departments seeking stronger collaboration

Teams that have the right people but the wrong rhythms: unclear roles, low trust, slow decisions.

Leadership teams aligning operating rhythm

Senior leaders resetting expectations, roles, and the cadence they hold themselves accountable to.

Pairs well with

Related services

Leadership development pairs naturally with strategic planning, capacity building, and team assessments. In fact, many clients combine two or three services for compounding impact.

FAQ

Leadership Development Program FAQ

What is Project L.E.A.P.?

Project L.E.A.P. (Leadership Excellence and Advancement Program) is Grey & Associates’ customizable leadership development program for entire teams, leaders, managers, and team members at every level. It strengthens leadership capability and team performance through training, coaching, and assessment-driven application. Past cohorts include the County of Sacramento, Goodwill Industries of South Florida, Mujeres Latinas, and Guardians Involved for Tomorrow (GIFT).

What does L.E.A.P. stand for?

Leadership Excellence and Advancement Program. The L/E/A/P competency model maps to four practical skill clusters: Lead with self-awareness, Engage with adaptability, Align with the team, and Perform with accountability.

What tools does Project L.E.A.P. use?

Project L.E.A.P. uses Everything DiSC® on Catalyst™ and The Five Behaviors as the core leadership development tools. Grey & Associates is a Wiley Authorized Partner, which means we are licensed to deliver and customize both.

How do you measure impact after training?

We use a simple measurement approach: baseline assessment before the program, post-training reflection captured at the end of sessions, and a 90-day impact check-in that measures application, identifies barriers, and sets next-step actions.

What’s the difference between an open-enrollment cohort and a custom in-house cohort?

Open-enrollment cohorts are scheduled, public, and bring leaders from multiple organizations together for cross-organizational peer learning. Custom in-house cohorts are for your team only, with curriculum tailored to your context and scheduling that fits your calendar. Most enterprise clients choose the custom path; individual leaders and small teams often start with open-enrollment.

Do you offer ongoing coaching after the program?

Yes. Ongoing coaching and cohort-based support are available to reinforce application, peer learning, and accountability. The coaching layer is scoped during the planning call.

Can L.E.A.P. be delivered virtually or only on-site?

Both. Project L.E.A.P. is delivered virtually for most cohorts, with optional on-site sessions for kickoffs, retreats, or capstone gatherings. Catalyst™ reinforces the learning between sessions either way.

How long does a typical Project L.E.A.P. cohort take?

Core cohorts typically run 8 to 16 weeks, with the 90-day impact check-in falling at the end of that period. Optional coaching extends the engagement by another 3 to 6 months.
